Differences Between the 2016 Toyota Tacoma and 2015 Toyota Tacoma
Are you looking for the power, toughness and capability of a pickup truck without sacrificing fuel economy? If that is the case, there are few better options on the road these days than the Toyota Tacoma compact pickup truck. Equipped with impressive power options and exciting off-road capabilities, the Tacoma is a favorite here at J. Pauley Toyota. While the current 2015 Toyota Tacoma is an impressive option, the redesigned and recently unveiled 2016 Toyota Tacoma promises even more impressive attributes. To help illustrate the qualities of the new Tacoma edition, we have developed a current Tacoma vs future Tacoma comparison to further explore the differences between the 2016 Toyota Tacoma and 2015 Toyota Tacoma.
2016 Toyota Tacoma vs 2015 Toyota Tacoma Engine Options
If you are in the market for a pickup truck, power and fuel efficiency is probably at the top of your list. Current Tacoma models offer a standard 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 159 horsepower and 23 mpg combined and can be paired with four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. For more power, you can upgrade to the 236-horsepower 4.0-liter V-6, which delivers a maximum towing capacity of 6,500 pounds.
Redesigned 2016 Toyota Tacoma models will employ an improved 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that will produce more power and better efficiency. The highlight for the 2016 Tacoma power lineup, however, is an all-new 3.5-liter Atkinson cycle V-6 power platform that will integrate both direct and port fuel injection with Toyota D-4S technology to improve overall performance. Both engine options will now be offered with a smooth-shifting, more efficient six-speed automatic transmission and V-6-powered models will also offer a six-speed manual gearbox.
2016 Toyota Tacoma vs 2015 Toyota Tacoma Features
Redesigned from the ground up and the inside out, the 2016 Toyota Tacoma is inundated with new design elements and new features. Future Tacoma models will deliver a more muscular demeanor highlighted by a high-lift design, lighter and stronger framework, LED running lights and a stamped Tacoma logo on the rear tailgate. New 16- and 18-inch wheel designs will further augment the new Tacoma’s style while a locking tailgate and available hard tonneau cover are new and convenient features.
On the interior, the 2016 Toyota Tacoma ups the ante even further over current 2015 Toyota Tacoma models. 2016 Toyota Tacoma models take the high standard set by its predecessor and add elements of luxury and innovation to the interior that were previously unavailable. New Qi wireless charging will now be available in Tacoma models alongside push-button start, available leather interior, an optional power moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control and advanced crash prevention systems. Where current Tacoma editions were built around practicality and utility, the future of the lineup improves on those traits while adding new innovative features that enhance luxury. The Tacoma model lineup will also retain the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro trim and will make your adventures even more intriguing with a Multi-Terrain select system and an integrated GoPro mount.
If the Toyota Tacoma sounds like your brand of automotive excitement, you have a decision to make. Do you wait until the fall of 2015 for the release of the 2016 Toyota Tacoma or do you get behind the wheel of a current Tacoma model?
