Key Differences Between the 2017 Toyota Tacoma and 2016 Toyota Tacoma

A complete redesign in the recent past allowed Toyota designers to fine-tune elements of the 2017 Toyota Tacoma and upgrade the level of adventure available to drivers. Armed with this 2017 Toyota Tacoma vs 2016 Toyota Tacoma outline, you can see how the Toyota Tacoma has changed from one year to the next and how it will benefit you at J. Pauley Toyota.

The primary change to the Toyota Tacoma design centers around the arrival of the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro edition. Designed and built to dominate extreme terrain, the TRD Pro adds bold style cues and performance-tuned elements to upgrade your drive. Take a look at highlights of the Tacoma TRD Pro below.

  • 16-Inch TRD Black Alloy Wheels
  • All-Terrain Kevlar-Reinforced Tires
  • TRD-Tuned Suspension
  • TRD 1-Inch Lift
  • FOX 2.5 Internal Bypass Shocks
  • Rigid Industries® LED Fog Lights
  • TRD Badges and Black Accents

Performance is a highlight of the Toyota Tacoma that centers around an arsenal of engine options and innovative off-road features. Stock Toyota Tacoma editions feature a 159-horsepower 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that will tow up to 3,500 pounds. Standard four-cylinder Tacoma models will achieve 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.

A new 3.5-liter V-6 engine is the highlight of the current Toyota Tacoma design and features Toyota D-4S direct and port fuel injection to upgrade performance to 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. With a six-speed automatic gearbox, the Tacoma will make 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway and has the power to tow up to 6,800 pounds. In addition to an upgrade in power, the Toyota Tacoma adds a smorgasbord of innovative performance features to include a 4WDemand part-time four-wheel drive system, a Multi-Terrain Select system and Crawl Control feature.
